SADS UK Supports Restart A Heart Day

October 19, 2021

SADS UK is passionate about saving lives and promotes the importance of individuals learning CPR and how to use a defibrillator to help save lives. Since 1998 SADS UK has assisted thousands of schools and many communities to put defibrillators on their premises and delivered training on CPR and how to use a defibrillator.

Sadly cardiac arrests are still happening during the coronavirus pandemic. Currently if you have an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest in the UK you have less than a one in ten chance of surviving. The aims of the Restart a Heart campaign is to improve these chances. SADS UK works with ambulance services around the country to help improve survival rates. SADS UK teaches CPR and the defibrillator all year round, the most powerful combination to save lives.

Our thanks to Hamptons Centre Manager, Russ Kemp who made the Centre Hall available to us and Dr Sarosh Khan, Cardiology Registrar at Essex Cardiothoracic Centre, Basildon Hospital,  for organising the day.  Particular thanks to everyone involved in working with SADS UK to provide the training sessions :Lead Instructor and Event Medic Roy Tyzack,  Liliana Cojan and Zaki Manan Medical Students at Anglia Ruskin University. Ayman Syed from Hamptons Sport and Leisure Ltd, Kabir Hussein from Essex Cardiothoracic Centre and Olivia Frost from St George's and UCL Medical Student.
