SADS UK New Patron Dr Amir Khan GP

Dr Amir Khan is a full time NHS GP working in inner city Bradford. Amir qualified with an honours degree in medicine (MBChB) from the University of Liverpool in 2004.  He worked his junior doctor years and did his GP training (MRCGP) in and around Merseyside, qualifying as a GP in 2009.  During this time he completed his Diploma in Child Health (DCH) and Diploma from the Royal College in Obstetrics and Gynaecology (DRCOG), giving him particular expertise in children’s and women’s health.  Amir has also completed his Diploma in Diabetes (DipDiab) and is a GP with a specialist interest in Type 2 Diabetes. He has also specialised in minor surgery and joint injections.

Soon after qualifying, Amir completed his Post Graduate Diploma in Education (PGCE) and became a GP Trainer and has been training GP trainees since 2011, being awarded RCGP “GP Trainer of the Year” in 2018 for his work with trainees in difficulty. 

He is an Honorary Senior Lecturer for both Leeds Medical School and the University of Bradford.  He has won many awards for his work with undergraduate students including a Clinical Excellence Award for his work on multi-disciplinary teaching.  He has also helped develop post graduate courses for Physician Associates and Advanced Practitioners.

Amir works at The Ridge Medical Practice in Bradford and his work there has helped the practice win GP Practice of The Year in 2018.
