Professional Danish soccer player Christian Eriksen went into Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) during Denmark’s opening game against Finland in the Euros 2020. Medical staff administered CPR, and after noticing his heart had stopped beating, called for an Automated External Defibrillator (AED), which shocked Eriksen’s heart back into rhythm and saved his life. This November, Christian Eriksen returned to play for his country in the World Cup because of these lifesaving actions.

Alan suffered a cardiac arrest whilst jogging. SADS UK is pleased that Alan's life was saved by the lifesaving action taken by an off-duty nurse and Josh who performed CPR until paramedics arrived. Our thanks to Alan's daughter Lara and friends and family for raising awareness and funds for SADS UK to place a defibrillator at Queen's Hotel, Southsea to help save lives.

Leah's Life was Saved by her Husband

SADS UK is pleased to be supporting Lydia Miller and The HR Department South East Wales, Ebbw Vale to place a Community Public Access Defibrillator at their premises to help save lives. Lydia's daughter Leah's life was saved when she suffered a cardiac arrest at home and her husband performed CPR until the paramedics arrived.
SADS UK supports the placement of 61 defibrillators

SADS UK were pleased to have partnered with and supported the team at The Wrekin Housing Group. Communities across Shropshire will now have public access defibrillators thanks to The Wrekin Housing Group. The lifesaving equipment will be installed outside the housing provider’s buildings to help safeguard residents should they suffer a cardiac arrest. The 61 defibrillators will be fully accessible to the public 24/7 and have a nominated person appointed to maintain them.

Roy Tyzack to abseil Harlow Water Tower for SADS UK

Roy Tyzack is taking on an abseil challenge down the 190' high water tower at Church Langley, Harlow on Saturday 14th May 2022.
Roy Tyzack is a 75-year-old retired Police Detective, having served with both the Metropolitan Police and Essex Police. He is now a First Response Medic and Qualified First Aid Instructor and Lead Instructor for the SADS UK 'HEARTWIZE' Scheme teaching CPR and defibrillator training to Year 10's in Essex schools to create a generation of lifesavers.

They are members of SADS UK’s 11-a-side charity football team formed in memory of friend and Captain Adam Hughes who tragically passed away in May 2009 aged just 25 from SADS (Sudden Arrhythmic Death Syndrome).

SADS UK praises young footballer Bayley for raising funds to place 2 lifesaving defibrillators at Middlewich Town FC to help save lives. SADS UK Middlewich Representative Linda Boden said “Every morning throughout June Bayley has been getting up at 6am and running a couple of miles before going to school and sometimes in the evening until he ran a marathon." Bayley was inspired to fundraise and help protect his teammates after Danish player Christian Eriksen suddenly collapsed during a Euro 2020 match.

SADS UK thanks Helen, Jordanne and all of their friends and family for their kind support in memory of Laura. Laura passed away suddenly in July 2019 aged just 38. Her family and friends raised awareness and funds for SADS UK to mark what would have been Laura's 40th birthday. With the funds raised they were keen to donate a defibrillator to Toe2Toe Fitness as the fitness centre understands how important this equipment is, and both Helen and Jordanne wanted them to benefit from having a defibrillator on their premises.

Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board (BCUHB) launched a brand new Mobile Cardiology Unit at Llyn Brenig. It is part of a wider project between SADS UK, the Health Board and the Welsh Ambulance Services NHS Trust.

Lifesaving Project in Wales has been hailed a success

A life-saving project which is a partnership between the Health Board, the Welsh Ambulance Services NHS Trust and SADS UK to provide access to hundreds of defibrillators across North Wales and teach people how to respond to a cardiac arrest has been hailed a success. Starting cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and using a defibrillator before the arrival of an ambulance increases the chance of survival from a cardiac arrest significantly.
