Ask your MP to Support the Second Reading of the Defibrillator Bill on 10th September 2021.

September 1, 2021

I support the national cardiac charity SADS UK who are backing Healthcomms Consulting (specialists in Healthcare Communications), to help push through The Defibrillator Bill, which requires the installation of automated external defibrillators in public buildings, sporting facilities, schools, higher education and other education and skills facilities, and facilities that provide care to vulnerable people; and to make associated provision about training and signage. On Friday 10th September 2021, the Automated External Defibrillators (Public Access) Bill will get its second reading in Parliament. This Bill aims to reduce the number of cardiac deaths by making it law for the aforementioned institutions to make defibrillators available. By having defibrillators available in schools and widely in the community many more lives will be saved. Please attend the Second Reading of the Bill and vote in favour of it.

SADS UK are keen that The Defibrillator Bill goes through Parliament and is brought into law so that more lives can be saved. We are grateful to Jim Shannon MP for sponsoring the Defibrillator Bill.

SADS UK has been working in this area of healthcare for over 20 years, installing thousands of defibrillators in schools and widely in the community. The SADS UK Big Shock Campaign urging for defibrillators to be installed in schools reached over 25 million people. The Parliamentary Reception SADS UK held in 2012 brought endorsement from many MPs when we demonstrated how easy it was to use the defibrillator. In 2013 SADS UK were again supported by Ambulance Services, with the London Ambulance Service and West Midlands Ambulance Service accompanying us to hand in a Petition to number 10 Downing Street, urging Government to bring in legislation for schools to have defibrillators on site.
