Statement from SADS UK - Government Announcement that State-Funded Schools across England will receive Defibrillators

SADS UK welcomes the Government’s announcement that all state funded secondary schools who do not already have a defibrillator on site will be provided with a defibrillator by July 2023.  After the charity’s many years of campaigning and liaising with Government and the Dept for Education there will now be at least one lifesaving device in every school should a person suffer a cardiac arrest.

SADS UK delivers Lifesaving Initiative to Year 8 Pupils

SADS UK provided essential lifesaving skills to Year 8 pupils at Grays Convent High School on Tuesday 12^th July 2022, our aim is to create a generation of lifesavers, being that every school leaver is trained to recognise and respond appropriately to a cardiac arrest emergency in a bid to increase survival rates from out of hospital cardiac arrest. 

Up to 60,000 cardiac arrests occur outside of hospitals in the UK every year, and the current survival rate in the UK is only 8%. Evidence from across the globe demonstrates that teaching school pupils basic life support skills can have a dramatic effect on cardiac arrest survival rates. Seattle and some Nordic cities have survival rates of more than 25%.

Defibrillator donated in memory of Clare Yates

SADS UK are pleased to have supported Mark Yates in donating a defibrillator to Buttercup Tea Rooms, Billesdon, in loving memory of his wife Clare who passed away in November 2021. Clare worked at Buttercups Tea Room and Mark wanted to help safeguard her work colleagues and equally the significant number of visitors they have on site.

TEAM ASH Ride Again for SADS UK In Memory of Ashley Livesey

TEAM ASH Ride Again for SADS UK in memory of Ashley Livesey who passed away in 2004 aged just 15.  SADS UK thanks members Gary and Julie Livesey and all their friends and family for their continued support since the tragic death of Ashley Livesey in 2004 aged just 15.  Since Ashley's death his family and friends have raised awareness and funds for SADS UK and have donated lifesaving defibrillators in their community to help save lives in his memory.
